This design was inspired by Uma Ramanathan - Who has donated this design to help support Mauna Kea Protectors Mauna Kea Anaina Hou through and in care of the Hoʻopae Pono Peace Project, an affiliate of Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples.

Sky Sails 2 is a metamorphosis of my original Sky Sails design created from research into my cultural and ancestral origins. In our seafaring cultures in South and South East Asia mountains are seen as landmarks for navigators as well as resting places of Ancestors. They are also navigation points for seafaring ancestors of the spirit world, guiding them visit their living relatives. Sky Sails 2 was co-created with Ilsa Parry, a multi-disciplinary artist from Liverpool, UK, who helped me realise the design in a format compatible for sublimation printing. This piece is an intimately personal dedication to the Mauna Kea and her protectors, specifically for Mauna Kea Anaina Hou,. In 2015 I saw videos online of the protectors on the Mauna stopping construction of the TMT. It inspired me to learn more about the mountain. You can find my work on Instagram @ti_lily75
